Gran Canaria, was a new place in Spain for us, this year. We always go to Spain but have never visited the Canaries before. This was also a test for my rheumatoid body. I was hoping that my future travel plans would mean I could fly further.

We even paid extra for day time flights and although they were better for me, the flight was too long for me. We flew on a Saturday and door to hotel took over eleven hours. Too much for my body.

We picked half board at Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa for five nights. Which is a large complex built in the style of a Canarian village. Set in tropical gardens, it features two outdoor swimming pool, spa and rooms with balconies. The hotel offers bright, attractive décor. Its rooms have a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The 1 Michelin Star-Awarded restaurant Los Guayres à-la-carte restaurant serves a range of traditional, Canarian dishes and buffet cuisine is on offer in the Tamarona restaurant. There are also 2 pool bars, a lounge bar and a terrace.. The spa at the Cordial Playa Mogan has a hot tub and sauna. There are a range of treatments on offer, including wraps, massages and aromatherapy. The resort covers an area of 48 000 square metres.

I did feel overwhelmed when I arrived. But during the stay I liked it more and more. It was so quiet and peaceful. I had no problems with the food from the buffet breakfast or dinner. We had great things to keep ourselves occupied from the pool, hot tub, chess, games room.

We had two days of exploring a few things in Gran Canaria, the mountains, the cathedral and the sand dunes. The rest of the time, we stayed at the hotel and the surrounding bay of Mogan.

We even talked about coming back during the winter period in the UK to see how it. I do think we will return here. We often heard people at dinner mention this is the tenth or fifteen visit. Time will tell.
