If you are a fan of architecture like me, then you will love the City Of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. This was the first place we visited after we had checked in our hotel. It is an entertainment based cultural and architectural complex in the city of Valencia, Spain. It is the most important modern tourist destination in the city of Valencia and one of the 12 Treasures of Spain – which I do not know much about but that has me interested to know more.
The complex is made up of various buildings:
The Hemesferic which looks like an eye which holds an IMAX Cinema, planetarium and laserium.
El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe, is an interactive museum of science that resembles the skeleton of a whale.
L’Umbracle is a landscaped walk with plant species indigenous to Valencia. This was my favourite, it was lovely and warm. I loved walking through here.
L’Oceanogràfic — an open-air oceanographic park. This was a lot of fun, as you will find out !
This shows the El Pont de l’Assut de l’Or – a suspension bridge and L’Àgora, which was empty and padlocked. It looked like a large conference space.
I so enjoyed the time I spent here. It was a really lovely unique place to visit. We even went back at night to see if it was lit up. But it was not, which was a pity. This was my first of the 12 Treasures of Spain. I really hope that I get the chance to see them all !
