We first went on holiday together in 1999, we started with Majorca in Spain, We then visited Cagliari, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Athens, Rhodes and Cairo.  This was before digital cameras – so this few pictures are scanned in. It was amazing to visit these countries. Egypt was a bucket list for me such a long time.

Back when we first went aborad, it was just lovely to explore before social media. No instagram so no many people posing like you see now. It just felt like calmer times. We picked Europe for our first trip abroad together and we booked a week in Mallorca, Spain and the second week, we cruised around the Mediterranean. This was our first cruise taking in sights like Rome, Florence, Pisa, Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Such a easy way to travel and I really enjoyed our first holiday together. It was before the time of cheap flights, like Ryanair, Easyjet. And we had also just brought our first property together, our mortgage rate was at 5.4%. We enjoyed it so much the following year, we booked another cruise this time around Greece and visiting Egypt for the first time. I just look back on these first trips fondly, they were special times in my life.

With hindsight, if I could do this again. I would travel abroad further and go as far away as possible as my life might not turn out the way I would like. Time will tell.
