Another long held wish was visiting Beijing’s National Stadium in the flesh. So I knew from looking at our tour itinerary, I knew that we had one afternoon. And it would mean going on the subway, changing trains and I thought why not. I would always regretted it, if I never went.

And I tried my first and only Macdonalds at the Olympic Park and it was ok but not the same !

The Chinese look at the Olympic Park and National Stadium as a white elephant, a waste of money. As it still costs a lot of money for the upkeep. I think it is a beautiful park and I loved spending my afternoon there. Entry to the park is free. But we did pay to visit the National Stadium, I think it was about 120RMB – about £10 and for me, it was worth the money.
