A Florence Skincare is a brand that came to my attention on instagram. When I was diagnosed with rosacea in 2019, this brand was recommended to me by one of my friends. I started to follow some other people with rosacea and a lot of the them were raving about the products. This brand came out in late 2017, So I decided to try a few things that interested me. These are what I ordered

“Our products have been formulated with skin loving ingredients at the right concentration to gently help restore an impaired skin barrier function.  Beautiful skin starts with a healthy barrier. If you are suffering from acne, rosacea or  dermatitis, you most probably have a compromised barrier. Sensitised skin does not happen overnight but rather occurs over a long period of time due to over-exfoliating, cleansing with harsh surfactants and high pH products, extreme fat-free diet, use of strong retinoids, UV and environmental damage, and even exposure to long term emotional stress”

This is the reason that I really like this brand. I took all the samples away with me on my weeks trips to Spain. And finished anything left when I got home.

Anti Pollution Cleansing Oil with astaxanthin and Q10

This luxurious cleanser lifts impurities and eye make-up effortlessly, while respecting skin integrity and general dermal repair. The emulsifying and clean-rinsing formula has been enriched with natural papaya enzymes to gently help soften skin while antioxidant rich astaxanthin and co-enzyme Q10+ help fight inflammation caused by environmental pollution. This oil is very soothing to inflamed skin as well as revitalising to sluggish complexions. My rosacea skin had no problem with this. I was also liked that this oil cleanser also contained Q10 so no need to buy an extra product. This I liked so this could be a repeat order. I have a few more to try. But this is a new favourite.

Hydrating Milky Toner with ceramides and hyaluronic acid

This multi-functional milky formula is the ultimate hydrating and conditioning treatment when your skin is acting out. The light hydrating essence literally drenches dehydrated and tight skin skin with skin loving ingredients, allowing a better absorption of subsequent products. Enriched with a nurturing blend of skin identical Hyaluronic acid, Squalane, Ceramides and Glycerin it also calms and soothes redness and irritation within seconds. It is absolutely fabulous at cleansing makeup residue without stripping. It simply leaves skin hydrated, plumped, soft and smooth, ready for your next skincare step. Fragrance-free, and surfactants-free, non irritating, with a low pH of 5 it is a lovely addition to any skin type. This was nice to use but not a fan though,

AHA/PHA Exfoliating Toner with 5% Latic Acid and 4% PHA

The product has a combination of 5% Lactic acid (AHA) with 4% Gluconolactone (PHA) to create a light to medium strength acid exfoliant to help address skin conditions such as superficial lines, pigmentation and rough skin texture. Both Gluconolactone and Lactic acid are very effective as skin moisturisers and are a great alternative to Glycolic acid while being just as effective. Lactic acid is a true multi-tasker that helps stimulate collagen synthesis, increase ceramides in the skin’s protective barrier;  increase water retention and works to prevent congestion and pigmentation. PHAs work exclusively on the surface of the skin without disturbing the layers beneath. This ensures optimal skin renewal with minimal irritation. As such even sensitive skin types can harness its resurfacing powers. In clinical studies, they have been proven to be compatible with dry, itchy skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea. This gentle yet powerful duo is particularly beneficial for mature, sensitive and dehydrated skin types. As Glycolic acid is too harsh for me, I used this twice a week. As I did not want to upset my skin anymore than it has been. However, this stung my face every time I used it. This is not going to be repurchase.

Super Serum

The multi-correctional formula is an antioxidant powerhouse, designed with actives such as Vitamin C (10%), Co-Q10+, Astaxanthin, 2% Green tea extract in the form of EGCG, Superoxide Dismutase and potent botanicals, including Arctic Cranberry and Amazon Pequi oil, to nourish and shield skin from environmental pollution, while working hard to prevent collagen degradation and pigmentation. If l-ascorbic acid based serums are too sensitising for you, this serum is a great alternative. It contains two types of vitamin c esters (5% Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate and 5% Ascorbyl Glucoside) to help you get the all benefits of vitamin c without the harsh side effects. One of the main reasons these esters do not irritate as much is because they don’t require an extremely low pH to be able to do their job. Super serum’s pH is around 5 (skin’s natural pH). Furthermore, our proprietary signature infusion of anti-inflammatory herbs – Dandelion, Liquorice, Ginkgo biloba, Lemon balm, Marshmallow, Plantain and Calendula works in synergy with Hyaluronic acid, Ceramides and Cholesterol to address skin conditions such as dehydration, pore congestion and loss of vitality. Super Serum leaves your skin smooth, calm, hydrated, and perfectly prepared for a moisturiser and make-up. This product is filled with so many amazing ingredients. This could be a holy grail for my morning serum.

Hydration Boost Serum

This oil-free, hydrating serum contains an army of powerful humectants to help quench your skin’s thirst and make it feel immediately smoother and plumper. It has been formulated with clinically-proven high-performance actives such as Peptides, 4% Niacinamide and low and medium weight Hyaluronic acid to help address dehydration and sensitised skin barrier. Furthermore, we have added botanical extracts of antioxidant-rich Green tea, Liquorice and Ginkgo biloba to help tone and smooth skin, whilst protecting from free-radicals. Finally, our botanical prebiotic complex helps promote friendly bacteria growth, resulting in a more resilient and healthy skin. Not a fan of this so will not be repurchasing.

Skin Rehab Rich

This is an intensely soothing, deeply repairing and nourishing face cream for dry and sensitised skin barrier. It is a powerful solution for redness and irritation caused by air travel/ jet-lag, harsh weather, cosmetic actives and lipid deficiency. Enriched with restoring essential Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, Oat beta glucan, 2% Ceramides, 1% Bisabolol and 0.7% Centella Asiatica this cream encourages fast skin recovery from chronic and traumatic skin conditions and cosmetic procedures.There is a substantial data demonstrating that atopic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, rosacea and other skin conditions are associated with an impaired skin barrier function. Most of these skin conditions share similar symptoms such as an increase in trans-epidermal water loss, a decrease in water binding properties and a reduction in skin surface lipids, specifically level of ceramides. This nourishing and healing cream addresses all the above issues without incorporating unnecessary ingredients that could be challenging to an already distressed skin such as essential oils, silicones, acids and alcohol. Too rich for me, so not to be.

Skin Rehab Light

This is a is a deeply soothing and repairing moisturiser for oily and combination sensitised skin barrier. It is a powerful solution for redness and irritation caused by jet-lag/air-travel, harsh weather and cosmetic actives. Enriched with restoring essential Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, Oat beta glucan, 2% Ceramides , 1% Bisabolol, and 0.7% Centella Asiatica this light cream encourages fast skin recovery from chronic and traumatic skin conditions and cosmetic procedures. I was surprised how rich this light version was. Not for me.

Intense Night Repair Oil

The multi-correctional sleeping oil contains potent and clinically proven rejuvenating actives such as stable Retinaldehyde, Paracress, Vitamin E and Co-Q10+ that work in synergy with anti-inflammatory Bisabolol to address skin conditions such as breakouts, lines, pore congestion, uneven skin tone and general loss of vitality. Furthermore, precious Olive Squalane, Hazelnut and Rice oils replenish skin’s lipids overnight and help tone down redness and infuse skin with nutrients for youthful and glowing skin. Retinal alone is wonderful for normalising and regulating skin function and its role goes beyond treating wrinkles. It can also increase cell thickness, affect gene expression, and increase the production of collagen from within. Not sure about this either. My face does not works well with retinoids.

Skin Barrier Restoring Oil

This essential oil free, concentrated oil-serum has been formulated with skin building Cholesterol, Ceramide 1 and 3, Phospholipids and Linoleic acids to deeply nourish and regenerate vulnerable and compromised skin that has lost its ability to protect and maintain itself due to lipid deficiency, pH aberration, inflammation or harsh cosmetics. This repairing serum mimics skin’s natural membrane structure, providing protection of skin cells and allowing it to function correctly. Furthermore, they have added organic botanical extracts of Marshmallow, Dandelion, Calendula, Plantai and Arctic Oat for their advanced moisturising and calming properties for delicate skin.The result is an immediate increase in your skin’s moisture levels and decreased erythema. This was okay and I may repurchase and use alternative to another favourite.

Hydrating Gel Cleansing Oil

This non-foaming and non stripping gel gently removes makeup, pollution and excess oil, leaving skin soft, refreshed and perfectly balanced. Enriched with matcha green tea, chlorella, aloe, pro-vitamin B5, oat and hyaluronic acid, this concentrated gel could be used as a hydrating flash mask as well as a cleanser. It effectively cleanses without irritation and over-drying. This was nice, but had a strange smell so not for me.

Conclusions

Big pluses for me are fragrance free, organic and cruelty free. The products are a joy to use. They have so many of the ingredients that I have already been adding to my beauty routine separately. Like Q10 and Niacinamide. I wanted multi function working products and I have found a few that I like. Namely the anti pollution cleansing oil and the super serum. The website can be found here
