York is someone I have wanted to visit for some time. When my friends suggested it for a visit, I was very pleased. We arrived by train, and from Newcastle Central station, if you take Transpenne Express, it only takes an hour and you can get a return ticket for £15.90 – such a bargain !

The walk to the Cathedral is only ten mins.

We crossed the River Ouse with lovely warm weather.

We found the tourist office as I wanted to get my bearings and get a tourist map. We then decided to get a drink and then, we were have lunch. We found one of the three Lucky Days that are all over the city.

Then we went to find the Shambles. I have wanted to find and see them for such a long time. And you can just imagine what this was like with stalls and benches.

We then found the cathedral and it looked beautiful in the sun.

York is such a lovely city to walk around during the lovely summer we have been experiencing. I would recommend this city to any one
