Our third day in New York was an early start for me. I woke at 3am NY which was actually 8am in UK time. We had an early breakfast then back on the metro down to Battery Park. This was to catch the first boat out to Liberty Island and avoid the queues.
We decided not to get off the boat at either Liberty Or Ellis Islands. And this was the right decision as I saw two other boats filled with tourists as we left.
We arrived back at Battery Park and went off to find the Charging Bull and Wall Street.
What I have noticed walking about was all the scaffolding and renovations work that meant most of the things I wanted to see was covered up. We then went to shopping and found nothing as the exchange rate is bad. We then went onto City Hall – this was a beautiful spot.
We then started to walk to Brooklyn Bridge. If it wasn’t such a hot day, it would have been lovely. It is hard walking up a bridge in the sun. But I was so pleased that I had done this.
This was all done in the morning before lunch ! We decided to pop back to the hotel to rest before walking to Pier 83 to book our harbour cruise. Then we went on an aircraft carrier Intrepid. This was amazing as I will never get a chance to do anything like this again.
And then even had a Concorde on there. My mum told me that one of our relatives went on it for her 90th birthday. I hope I am still travelling at that age !
And I got to experience the Star Trek experience – a little bit disappointing but what can you say.
Then we thought that we would try Five Guys and see if it was the same as in the UK and I was so pleased that it is.
Before popping into Carlos Bakery across the street for a quick dessert. And these were too sweet for me !
Then later we walked down to find the Flatiron building, and got a shot just before the sun went down.
