LUXEMBOURG CITY SIGHTS

Luxembourg was a day trip for us from Brussels. I had not researched much about this, as this trip was less than a week after the trip to Norway. The coach journey took just over four hours and we were dropped off just outside the 17th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral. We crossed over and saw the top of the the Plateau Bourbon former fortress.

Our group then went to start the walking tour but I knew with my mobility issues that I could not do this. We then went off for a spot of lunch and to sightsee and shop at our own speed. However, I had not researched and did not know that this day in August was a bank holiday. So all the shops were shut and the city centre was swarming with people out enjoying the sun. I get anxious in large groups so we ended up at Macdonalds. And then we left the square and went to find so quiet areas.

We came across the Royal Palace of the Grand Duke and Notre Dame with the monument of the Grand Duchess Charlotte

We made our way back to the Aldophe Bridge that originally built in 1903. And it was lovely and peaceful. I just wish that we had more time there. I wanted to go down do the gardens and just spend some time there. We left the city for our return four hour coach back to Brussels and we passed the Plateau Bourbon former fortress which looks like it is being restored.

I am glad that I finally got to visit Luxembourg City. It is very small but you do feel that it is very wealthy. I can not explain it very well. But maybe it was all the fancy cars I would see and how people were dressed. It was somewhere that I will not forget.
