This is part of my favourite hotel St Pancras and as I am not in London very often, I decided to meet a friend here for a late lunch. Its so beautiful and I loved it !

Situated in the original station’s ticket hall, the Booking Office Bar & Restaurant at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is one of the most inspirational places to enjoy a drink in the City. Reviving the tradition of the station café, the cathedral-like drama of the space, combined with 29m-long bar and menu serving classic British dishes, are conversation-stoppers at any time of day. A striking setting for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, the Booking Office also offers an array of punches and mixed drinks recreated from lost recipes from the Victorian era, as well as a range of bespoke and seasonal cocktails.

I had booked some time ago and asked for a quieter location. And as I was in the city earlier than I had planned I was even able to change time and have lunch earlier than planned. That’s probably due to empty restaurants in early January ! We both went for the trio of babyburgers –  one Welsh lamb & mint, one chicken, chilli & coriander and one Angus beef & red onion.  I liked the lamb and beef ones, but was not taken with the chicken one. These come under the food to share, but how are you meant to share three burgers ?

And I had to try one of the cocktails, this is the Gin Fix and it did pack a punch ! Its made from Bombay Sapphire Gin, sugar, the juice and peel of a lemon, soda water, garnished with seasonal berries.

I am glad I visited, and I would return its a lovely building. It is just a shame that they do not showcase some of the old features from the old ticket hall. The original 1873 ticket office with only five customer windows is now hidden  behind the bar. But there you go !
