This was the trip that made me fall in love with travelling. I had wanted to go to Australia for such a long time. I had arranged a month of work and had booked with Travelbag. We had an eight hours flight to Sydney from Hong Kong and my first thought leaving the airport was that it was hot. I had even been warned to get sun cream from one of the immigration staff at the airport. We booked a private apartment for the time we were in Sydney, I remember that it was close to the Central Station. After dropping our bags off, we head down to the harbour; it was our first sighting of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. And it was one of the moments when you can believe that one of your dreams have come true – I was actually in Australia – I was on the other side of the world !
We had dinner at the Sydney Tower which is a 360 revolving views of the Sydney skyline– which I would recommend. The views are amazing, especially at night. The dinner included emu, kangaroo and crocodile which I did not try. A tip that my friend who lives in Sydney told me was to go for an early evening dinner, that way you see the views from both daytime and evening.
The next day involved a city tour, saw everything I had wanted to see; Macquarie’s Chair, Bondi Beach. When we visited Bondi, it was a week day and it was empty.
We visited the Zoo, China Town, Haymarket, Paddy’s Market and, Manly Beach. Really enjoyed this city.
This is the view from walking the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is very accesible to walk around for hours taking in all the sites. It a very friendly tourist city.
This is Manly beach on a weekend, I met my friend who lives in there for lunch and got there by the water taxi ferry.
To date this is one of my favourite places in the world. And would happily return !
