SPAIN, LAST DAY – TORREVIEJA AND CARTAGENA

My last day in Spain, we had felt there was nothing else in Murcia that I wanted to see. My husband and I decided to drive to Torrevieja for a bit of sightseeing and experience the coast. We first found a Carrefour, where I literally had a shocking moment. I had misplaced my husband, and my life flashed before my eyes. The supermarket was a big as an Tesco extra and it was full of British elderly expats. And I knew that this would be us in years to come. I got a British newspaper, I saw British foods, books, the only thing I missed were the fresh bakery items, that I probably should not be eating anyway.

We then drove down to the coast and we did stop one place to stretch our legs and took this shots. It was a beautiful spot.

Then driving further into Torrevieja, it was full of high rises apartments and I just did not like that at all. With time to spare, we tried to visit the Fortress at Cartagena, but we arrived too late and it was closed. We stopped for churros and chocolate which I had been craving since I arrived.

Then we decided to walk and see the old Plaza De Toros but it labelled as another Roman Theatre. To see this, we had to get to the lift and walk out to see this remains.

It does not feel natural but I am glad I saw this. We only had enough time for me to go back to the viewing platform of the Roman Theatre but the sun was against us. I then had to get out and back in the car for my flight home.

I was leaving my husband there for his motorbike track event. He is coming home four days later. While I was waiting to leave in the departure hall, I got this whatsapp message from him. It looks like we are going to be spending a lot more time here in our favourite country !

But I do think, if we are able too, I think we will end up living in Spain and I do not know why I am fighting it. I am not well enough to travel the world like I wanted too. I am not even sure now if I want to continue visiting countries that were on my list. But who knows what our futures will be !
