LOOK BACK: SINGAPORE

We were visiting Sydney for Christmas to stay with relatives and decided to have a stop over in Singapore for a couple of nights. Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. Its colonial core centers on the Padang, a cricket field since the 1830’s and now flanked by grand buildings such as City Hall, with its 18 Corinthian columns. In Singapore’s circa-1820 Chinatown stands the red-and-gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, said to house one of Buddha’s teeth. Singapore was somewhere that is so clean, so modern and somewhere that I would like to explore more in the future. The only thing that we had time to do was a city tour in the morning and the National Orchid Garden in the afternoon.
