USA, NEW YORK, DAY ONE SIGHTSEEING; GRAND CENTRAL, CENTRAL PARK, TOP OF THE ROCK, RADIO CITY

On our first day in New York, we first went to Empire State Building, but a long queue meant that we left. This was due to being based only a block away. And we knew that we could pop back.

Then we walked to Grand Central station and did the audio tour, this was amazing  and I just loved it. I had recently read a thriller based all around the station. And this was one of  my list of places that I really wanted to visit and left so pleased I finally got here.

We then walked from the station, to the Love Sculpture. And we were so lucky with the weather. It was so sunny and warm and this was early October.

Then walked to Central Park and I really wanted to walk down the Mall, but did not realise how long it would be. And I also wanted to find the Alice In Wonderland statute.

We then had an amazing lunch at the Boat House. I could not get a good photo at Strawberry Fields, this was down to the number of tourists there. It was just not possible. We then walked to find the Dakota building, which we did find and it was covered in scaffolding and netting.  We then walked down to the Natural History museum.

We got off the Metro hoping to visit Carnegie Hall. But they told us, that tours had just been cancelled for the whole week.

We then went to Top Of The Rock. My sister had told me this was better than the Empire State Building and I have to agree with her. The views were amazing and I would recommend this to anyone visiting New York.

We then did a tour of the Radio City and this was really interesting.  It was all about the history of the building and we even meet one of the current Rockettes. If I ever returned to New York, it would have to be at Christmas time, and that would be to see their Christmas show.

Then went to visit St Patrick’s Cathedral.  This is opposite the Rockefeller Center and this was another beautiful place to see.

We also saw the Chrysler Building and the New York Public Library. If the Rose Main Reading Room was not being renovated, I would have gone to see this for sure.

You can tell is was such a busy day but I loved it. I ended up walking over 28,000 steps that day and this was the first of many days like this !
