WANDERLUST: RUSSIA

Russia has been a wanderlust country since I studied Russian history during my A-Levels. I was fascinated by it and I was even booked to go to Moscow last year. But we cancelled as after I watched the BBC 1 drama series War and Peace, I realised that I wanted to spend more time and visit St Petersburg too. This is what I hope to do in the very near future. I would visit Red Square with St Basil’s Cathedral, GUM state department store, Moscow State University, Novodevichy Convent, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Gorky Park.

I would also visit  Sergiev Posad. Built around the Trinity Monastery of St Sergius, it is one of Russia’s most important religious and historical landmarks.

I would also try to visit the Kremlin, including Cathedral Square and the Armoury Museum, with its collection of imperial treasures and Fabergé eggs. I would also visit St Petersburg and visit Catherine’s Palace at Pushkin, including the Amber Room. And go to Peterhof to view the exterior of Peter the Great’s Summer Palace and gardens.

And also visit the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood and the Peter and Paul Fortress. It looks so beautiful.
