SPF (sun protection factor) is paramount for rosacea skin. Sun exposure was named a top trigger for rosacea flare-ups by 81 percent of patients in a National Rosacea Society survey, and is also linked to the visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) and severe redness often associated with the disorder. But my face is so temperamental with various spf products. A lot of spf stings my face, and I have a need to wash it off as soon as possible.

The ones that work the best and that I liked are the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Daily Defence but the company withdrew this version for one with a higher spf and a horrible smell. The next I liked was the The Body Shop Skin Defence, the only problem with this one, is that it is never in stock online or in the branch I use the most. But then the company changed the formula and my skin did not get on with this.

Then we come to two companies owned by the L’Oréal group namely La Roche Posay and Garnier. The La Roche Posay Anthelios is a very fine thin spf. I have used this one multiple times. This works well but this year, I often found myself dropping the product on my clothes. I am not buying this one any more.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti-Dark Spots & Anti-Pollution Super UV Protection Fluid is enriched with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. This formula offers very high SPF protection to help prevent sun induced dark spots, while protecting skin from pollution induced oxidative stress. Its another ultra-light texture like the Anthelios but half the price but just as effective. This may be repurchased as it is just as good as the La Roche Posay version.

Then we have new formulations, that were released in 2021, La Roche-Posay Anthelios Age Correct SPF50 contains dermatological actives to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots and improve skin elasticity. This formula is enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, PHE-Resorcinol & LHA, Niacinamide and La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water to hydrate and re-plump, target pigmentation and soothe the skin. I use this in the summer and on the days I go outside. I do not need to use any moisturiser with this, and I just love the smell of this one too.

Protect and hydrate with Hyalu B5 Aquagel SPF30, an intensely hydrating gel for supple, radiant skin with a healthy glow. With broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, Hyalu B5 Aquagel also contains antioxidants to further protect the skin. The fresh, glowy gel is non-greasy, fast absorbing and invisible on the skin. Skin feels immediately hydrated and comforted. This I passed onto my friend as better suited for them.

The Ultra Violette SPF wardrobe is lovely and so cute. This includes 15mls of each Queen, Supreme, Clean and Lean Screen. They all worked well, and I did enjoy them. But full sizes are expensive and I will not be repurchasing these again.
