SPAIN, FIRST DAY – MURCIA AND CARTAGENA

We decided to have a little winter trip to Spain and visit Murcia. When we flew into San Javier Airport, I had forgotten how tiny this was, and then saw the sign this airport was closing and finally being replaced with the new International Airport that should have been opened in 2013. We drove and had booked the nearest hotel that was available and this was the Intercontinental Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa. And when we arrived at 9pm, we were upgraded to a pool room and this was a very big room. And I thought the pool looked beautiful at night but it was even better in the morning.

This is a five star resort with three star self service apartments and homes that can not use the facilities at the hotel like the pool and golf resort. And I really had a good night sleep here which is something I had needed since my trip to South America a week ago. And the view in the morning was beautiful.

We then drove to Cartagena for a spot of sightseeing. I knew I wanted to find the Roman Theatre. I was lucky that my husband had already been here with his friends and knew where everything is.

And it really was that sunny and bright. It was about 23 degrees so we had lunch outside by the harbour.

This was a Burger King hamburger without gluten and was adequate and not something I will eat again. We then started our drive from Cartagena to Almeria. And came across some beautiful places.

We then came across the beautiful spot near Mazarron.

And then by 5 pm, we had arrived in Almeria, our base for the next couple of nights. I was surprised how tired just sitting in a car for a couple of hours would be. But then I have been suffering with no humira for a third week and a painful broken wisdom tooth and this had disrupted my sleep. So looking forward to exploring this city at my own pace.
