NORTHERN ISLAND, BELFAST CASTLE AND THE CATS

We also wanted to visit Belfast Castle. The Castle is set on the slopes of Cavehill Country Park, Belfast, Northern Ireland, in a prominent position 400 feet above sea level. Belfast Castle and the cats … according to legend, Belfast Castle is safe as long as there is a (preferably white) cat residing there. This myth led to the creation of the Cat Garden right next to the stately pile on the slopes of Cave Hill. We had read about this online and I knew that I wanted to see these ‘cats’ and it was also free entry !
As a wedding was taking place when we arrived, we were unable to visit the inside of the castle, so had to made do with all the cats in the garden. Entry to the castle is free and I just love the cat legend and garden – but then I do love cats ! There are nine cats in the garden, I only found eight !
