Following on from holy grail cleansers found here I have now found some holy grail exfoliators. I like to have a least two, as I get so bored using the same product if I use it too long. And so far from my stash, I have found two. Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel and Niod Non-Acid Acid Precursor.
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
Natural fruit enzymes of exfoliating Papaya and calming Pineapple smooth and clarify the complexion. This rinse-off exfoliating cream contains nourishing Milk Protein, anti-oxidant rich Vitamin E and Marine Algae to moisturise, repair and protect skin. I just love the smell, the texture. It has never reacted to my skin. Even when I have been ill and my skin more sensitive, it has been fine to use. This get used twice a week when it is rotation. I will always have a back up as I buy in sets when it is cheaper than the price on the Elemis website. Warm the Peel into my palms and apply to a cleansed skin, avoiding the delicate eye area. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and remove with lukewarm water. It is just so nice for me to use.
Niod Non-Acid Acid Precursor
This is a non-acidic alternative to acid-based epidermal resurfacing. Instead of using direct acids like AHA/BHA or retinoids that are common in skincare. This uses fermentation bio-derivatives and amino isolates that act as precursors to skin-compatible acids, encouraging visible radiance and visible surface regularity without the redness and inflammation associated with acids. I first used this every evening for two weeks, and had no problems. Then I used for three nights, then used my retinol, and then repeat. I used two drops, and added the Niod pump for easier use. I do not like the dropper for this product.
Exfoliating and Rosacea
People with rosacea have very sensitive skin so any type of physical exfoliation is going to be potentially irritating. Last year I got interested in using various glycolic acids which in the end damaged my skin barrier. So I would advise everyone to be careful with AHA and BHA products. They can be too strong for your face, as I found out. These two will always be in my beauty stash. And I will always keep my eyes open for any product that interests me. New things are coming out all the time.
