Keukenhof also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world’s largest flower gardens, situated in Lisse, South Holland, Netherlands. The park is so beautiful. According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares (79 acres). Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather of course. There are just a few and I do mean a few of the flowers that I saw !

Although known for tulips, the park is home to the world’s largest lily show, during the last ten days of the opening season.

And I would recommend getting to Keukenhof early. We had the combination bus-park ticket. Which meant just picking the bus up at the airport. Again, if you go early, you would miss the queue that we saw when we came back and it snaked around the building. The best time to visit Keukenhof depends on the weather but mid-April to early May is usually the most reliable for tulips. Weekends and school vacations are best avoided. The garden is usually quieter early morning or late afternoon than around lunch time
