LOOK BACK: USA, THE FLORIDA KEYS

The Florida Keys was a dream destination for some time. It did not disappoint although my husband did think it was too much of a driving holiday. We stayed at Ocean Pointe Suites at Key Largo. This was picked as we knew that we would be driving all the way down to Key West and in addition stopping off at the various things to see on the way down. But we did not spend much time here other than to sleep. We spent some much time enjoy what the Florida Keys have to offer.
Grassy Key
We visited Dolphin Rescue at Grassy Key. This was an amazing place. We choose to spend some time at the Theater Of The Sea, where we saw turtles, sea lions, nurse sharks and parrots. This felt very old fashioned but that was the charm of it.
Key West
I really liked Key West, the buildings were all of a colonial design. I liked this. To this day, I still have a book on houses from The Florida Keys. If I ever won a large sum of money, I will buy a plot of land and build a house like I saw in Key West. There were just all so beautiful.
We also went snorkelling at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. But we did not enjoy our time there.
Miami
We drove to spend some time at South Beach in Miami. The only thing that I was not a fan of was the heat. We visited in January and it was so hot and we got burned by the sun. We could not believe it, it was January and just too much for us Brits !
I do enjoy trips to the USA so much. We are thinking of returning and exploring Florida some more and visiting Palm Beach. But I also have my eyes on Tampa and Fort Myers. I am thankful that we did the drive down the Florida Keys, it was an amazing trip for me and there is so much to see and do !
