Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in London, England, United Kingdom, is a sporting complex built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and the Paralympics, situated to the east of the city adjacent to the Stratford City development.
The last time I was in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was during the Paralympic Games of 2012. And I remember that I wanted to visit the ArcelorMittal Orbit and see the views. But you can imagine how busy it was and until I found a good deal from Groupon I had forgotten about it.
The gardens from 2012 have all grown and look so good. We made our way to the Orbit.
And before long, we were in the lift and at the top of the largest piece of public art standing at 114.5 metre tall.
We then took the lift to the lower level but you can use the stairs.
This bell part, stabilises the structure.
And this we noticed as we were leaving the park and it just reminded of the 2012 games – which held fond memories.
In the spring of 2016, a giant slide is being added. The slide will be the longest and tallest tunnel slide in the world. And some sections of it, will be transparent, so you can see the view. Not something that I will be experiencing !
