Las Iguanas
So another new restaurant opening in Chelmsford, this is Las Iguanas. They promise fresh South & Central American food, awesome cocktails and Latin American vibes. This opened recently at the new Bond Street development. My husband and I popped in for lunch. We arrived at 12pm, and we seated straight away.
Our server Sarah was very attentive and we were also lucky to have two cocktails for one.
I ordered the classic burger from the lunch menu and my husband ordered the bahian coconut chicken from the main menu.
This food was delicious both dishes and I can not recommend this place enough. Las Iguanas is found at the new Bond Street Development on the 1st floor next to the Everyman Cinema.
Bourgee
So another meal in another new restaurant in Chelmsford was at Bourgee. I went there with my friends for lunch. We walked and it is so nice inside and I decided I was going to return with my husband.
We were shown the meat and lobster on offer. And my friends had some Lobster profiteroles which they thought were delicious.
I had the fillet steak with skinny fries. The service was very good and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. This looks like it will be a firm favourite for me !
I have also tried the sunday lunch roast and this is also delicious. I can not recommend this restaurant enough.
The Lion Inn
For a family event, we went to The Lion Inn in Boreham. This is a lovely gastro pub and small hotel in the Essex countryside, not far from Chelmsford.
And we were a big group I lost count after about twenty. So you can imagine the atmosphere. Hence why I did not get any good interior shots these are press ones. We were celebrating my nephews first birthday and he was a little too young to understand what was all going on. The food on the other hand, I have never eaten so much in one day before. This filled me up for the whole day.
And this place is so busy at the weekend. It is very popular so that is a good thing !
Carluccios
So another meal at another new restaurant in Chelmsford, this time the Italian Carluccios. My friends and I arrived at lunchtime. And what surprised me was how busy this place was. Not with people having lunch. There were lots of older couples having coffee and cake. So I going to try it too at another time. Again no good interior shots, it was very nice, new clean. But then it is brand new, so will be interesting to come back in a few months and see how it looks then.
The staff were very attentive and could not do enough for us. I ordered the Branzino, a Sea Bass dish with garlic roasted potatoes and a tomato salsa. It was very nice and my friends did say that we will return. But as I have previously said, there is a lot of new restaurants opening up. And I can not wait to get to try them all !
Back In Time
So another lunch with my friends was at Back In Time in Chelmsford. We are so lucky at the moment, there are so many new places we can eat at. I can not wait to try them all !
This place does cook steaks, chicken and ribs but we only went for lunch and had the lunch menu, a burger, fries and soft drink for £6.50. Now we arrived at literally just after 12pm, and we did not get served until 12.40pm. And we were only having burger and chips, why does this take so long to cook. It did taste nice but I will not be returning as there is so many more places to eat at.
Grand Central
This is the newly opened Grand Central in Chelmsford’s Anne Knight building. This is found literally opposite Chelmsford station. My friend and I went on the opening weekend. We arrived a little early, so we got some drinks and then were seated upstairs after about 15 mins. I did not get any good pictures of the interior. I keep forgetting to take my camera with me. So again I am sorry that the food pictures are not very good.
For starters, we had the Coco Shrimp, I found this too sweet for me.
And for mains, my friend order the Dogzilla, a 15 inch pork frankfurter and I ordered the Tzat, a lamb burger with fries. I had no idea the size of the Dogzilla, and it was huge !
We also order two milkshakes – banana and peanut butter and jelly. I really liked these !
The only thing I did not like was the tray that the food was served on and it did feel that we were waiting for our food longer than normal. But I do put it down to it being the opening weekend. I hope to return as there is lots on the menu that I am hoping to try !
Cote Brasserie
So Cote Brasserie recently opened up in Chelmsford. And with my friends, we went for lunch. This is a brand new building and looked lovely, fresh inside. But I did not get any good shots, so here is a press one.
My friends had the same idea as me when we looked at the menu. We all ordered the French Onion Soup, mine with no cheese – and this was delicious as I knew that it would be.
Followed by the Grilled Chicken
It was such a lovely, filling lunch that I knew when I come back, I am only having one course. I think this is going to a firm favourite for me in the future !
The only thing that I did not like was where the outside seating is. The road next to it is on a bus route, which has bus’s going down every ten minutes or so. So that is one place I will be avoiding that is for sure !
