AUSTRIA, VIENNA CITY SIGHTS

I arrived at Vienna Central Station after my three hour train journey. Thanks to google maps, I was soon in my hotel room also I realised that I had not eaten anything since breakfast at 8am and it was now 4pm. I was distracted by the sights on the train journey and I also watched a movie. I found a Macdonalds at the station and mistakenly ordered 3 hamburgers. What surprised me was that I eat them all up and quickly. I can normally only ever manage one of them.
I then went to OBB office/help desk where for the sum of 27 Euros, I had a 72 hour travel pass for Vienna and a single ticket to my next destination Bratislava.
I then went back to the hotel after resting, I realised that Belverdere Palace was only ten minuites walk away. I went to visit and within half way there, the heavens opened and strong winds started. Buy the time I got there, they had also closed. So I only got to see this.
The next day, it was very grey, windy and cold. I had a bad night sleep, so did not go out until 10 ish and headed straight into sightseeing. I first went to West Vienna Station to find Flor Kent ‘Fur Das Kind’. Now it took me over an hour to take a twenty minute train journey. But that is all the fun of travelling to new places. I just would have liked it to have been as nice as it was in Salzburg. But you can not control the weather. After eventually arriving at Michaelerplatz where I found some beautiful architecture. Including the Hofburg Palace.
I smelt the Spanish horses first and came across the stables. And they did look beautiful.
I paid Euros 8 to visit what only I could call a piece of paradise. The National Library holding over 200,000 books. Those that know me personally, know that I just love books. Walking into this place, was a WOW moment.
I then came across Cafe Mozart when I popped into. I had goulash soup, hot chocolate and an apple strudel – all delicous.
Then I finally found the Vienna State Opera.
The weather today has not been very nice. It is very cold, very windy and when I decided to make my way back to the hotel to rest and plan further adventures. It started to rain. The next day is was again cold, cloudy, miserable really but I took a early tour to Schönbrunn Palace. And also struggled with all the walking. Pleased I visited but not somewhere I would want to come back too. And this was the third palace I have now seen in Vienna. Enough said about palaces.
I wanted to find St Stephens Cathedral and it was very busy.
And then across St Peters Catholic Church
There is some beautiful architecture in Vienna.
I thought that I would end my sightseeing at the parliament building and when I got there. I was very disappointed. But what can you do.
Vienna is a beautiful city in Austria. I have enjoyed my time and one day would like to come back. I would go to the Opera, take a cruise down the Danube River. And hopefully see more sights that I did not get round to this time. What would you recommend for a return visit ?
