NORTHERN ISLAND, GIANT CAUSEWAY AND DARK HEDGES

Over an hours drive from Belfast George Best Airport. I had seen pictures online and thought that they looked beautiful. What I did not take into account, was where they were and how many tourists would be there. But I was visiting the busier time of year as the Ulster GP was taken place the same weekend I was there aswell !

Our ticket price online earlier in the year was £7.50 each, this included an audio tour, free parking – and this was good value for money.

I was surprised how much walk involved. So I would recommend comfortable shoes. And what did not help me, is that I still have damaged toes and can not walk over uneven stones without being in pain. And there are lots of uneven stones there ! It is a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site and I pleased that I got to see this in the flesh.

And after the long walk, I treated myself to this and it was delicious !

We then drove until we found the Dark Hedges. This is an avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. These trees are beautiful and you can not believe they are really like that until you see them in the flesh. They have become one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland. It just a shame that some people like to damage and do this to some of the trees in the avenue.
