DURHAM, DARLINGTON, WALWORTH CASTLE; MY UNIQUE STAY

Walworth Castle, Durham was our goal over the August bank holiday, we had a weekend away in the North East of the UK. This was my opportunity to stay in the first of what I am calling my unique trips. This was in a 12th Century Castle in Darlington. It took us over five hours to drive here from home and when we drove up – its a five minute drive from the A1(M). Its has an impressive driveway, reception, facade. I love old historical buildings and we walked around taking in the sights we could see. Unfortunately, there was not much to see around here.

However, the castle room I had booked did not wow me. No ventilation in the room, – made it damp and it was cold night in August. I did not sleep very well here and just did not enjoy our stay. My husband and mum both told me that was what I should have expected. Old historical places are cold that is a standing joke in my family. I am very impulsive and have had to learn to research or I lose out like I did here. But I can tick the castle of my list !
