So it was another weekend in London, this time, we were at the Mercure London Bridge Hotel. Considering I had booked a basic room, I was surprised how nice it was. The colours were really nice. I have seen lots of pictures online of orange rooms. And the green and purple was a nice surprise.

Its was in nice location on Southwark street, This is ten minutues walk from Borough Market, London Bridge and The Shard.

I was not a fan on the online check in desk. These seemed to take a long time, and I was left standing around, which I did not think was a nice experience and was told nothing about the room. While I was waiting, I overheard a couple who had been directed to seats in the lounge, the benefits of them having a Privilege Room.

“Experience our Privilege room upgrade. Additional amenities include bathrobe & slippers, upgraded toiletries, Nespresso tea/ coffee facilities & complimentary drinks, as well as unlimited WiFi, satellite TV & broadband pay TV”

And it turns out, that we were given an Privilege room, but I am not sure that the benefits are worth paying for. I believe free wi fi should be standard in all hotels. And the Nespresso tea/coffee does not impress me. And the upgraded toiletries were nothing to write home about.

And I was not a fan of the mural in the bathroom and the carpet – they were both ugly and not to my taste.

This was different to the Mercure, that I stayed with in Paris, last November. This room was much nicer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanted a longer stay in London. The location is perfect and is reasonably priced for the capital.
