LONDON, HIGHGATE EAST CEMETERY TOUR

We decided to visit Highgate Cemetery. This was something my friend was interested in. I love when your friends want to visit places like cemeteries with you. But first we came across Waterlow Park. This park is another lovely spot. Sir Sydney Waterlow presented his house and 26 acres to the London County Council as a public park and ‘a garden for the gardenless’ in 1889. This is another spot that you should visit if you are ever in Highgate or Archway. I would recommend this to anyone !

And next to Waterlow Park is Highgate Cemetery. We booked the Highgate East Cemetery tour that lasts for about an hour and costs £8 – all visiting information can be found here .

Highgate Cemetery originally opened in 1839 but by the 1970’s went into decline. Now it is run by the friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust and tours like the one we went on are all run by volunteers like Richard. It is such an interesting and informative tour.  There is another Highgate tour which I hope to do but I was pleased that I went and finished this one considering my health at the moment. Another tour that I would highly recommend !
